This book is a compilation containing relevant excerpts from and texts of international instruments embodying the concern and commitment expressed by the international community to educate all members of society on human rights. Part One of the document sets out relevant provisions of the International Bill of Human Rights and related documents. Parts Two and Three highlight, respectively, relevant provisions of other international and regional instruments. The international instruments examined are taken from the United Nations, UNESCO, the ILO, and the international law of armed conflict; the regional instruments are from the European Union, Organization of American States, Council of Europe, Organization of African Unity, and Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. This compilation seeks to further the promotion of human rights by facilitating a number of activities undertaken by one or more of the groups targeted.

The book is available in all United Nations official languages.
