Guidelines for the integration of childrens rights into Swedish bilateral development cooperation are given in this position paper. The paper discusses and analyses Swedish work in integrating the rights of the Convention on the Rights of the Child into Swedish foreign policy and international development cooperation. The place of the Convention on the Rights of the Child is also analyzed in its historical development, its current status as a part of international law and the ways in which it has been put into practice. Childrens rights are also explored in terms of the development of society and their place in international development cooperation. Emphasis is put on the rights of particularly vulnerable children.
