Summary
The book starts with a theoretical approach entitled Human Rights Education and Questions of Life. It then proceeds to examine the call to human rights under the current cultural situation in the Arab world. The book also tackles the issue of cultural specificity and promoting human rights values. In addition to this, special attention was given to the philosophy of human rights education. The book discusses other topics like Reflections on Education and Empowerment and Human Rights Discourse: Balance between Frustration and Optimism. The second part of the book deals with Strategies of Human Rights Education. This part includes two articles entitled: Towards Novel Strategies for Dissemination of the Human Rights Culture and Human Rights Education and Religious Tolerance: A Religious or Political Issue? The third part of the book deals with teaching human rights. In particular, it refers to teaching the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women in Egyptian law schools. This section also deals with the effectiveness of human rights education courses. The fourth part of the book is on Human Rights in Arts and Literature. It comprises two articles entitled Aesthetic Education is of the Human Rights and Development of Humanitarian Expression through Arts and the Artists Freedom of Expression. Finally, an evaluation of the UNESCO Manual for Human Rights Education is attached to the book.
